The Coaching Relationship
The coaching relationship is an equal partnership, where we work together with a focus on you. As your coach I am there to guide you, work with you, support you, listen to you and to challenge you. Coaching is about moving forward, about growth, about knowing yourself a little better every day. It’s about improvement.
As a Co-Active® Coach I believe that everybody already has the skills they need to succeed and my aim is to help my clients (re)discover them. I work with clients to address the fears that hold them back and to find the freedom they need to make conscious choices.
I believe in people having the freedom to be truly authentic, to live with individuality and I believe in the power of true balance and connection. I work with my clients to face change, take risks and acknowledge their own strengths. We work to bring success to their lives.
Much of my previous experience is integrated into my coaching work and helps me work with clients across a broad range of topics, while maintaining a clear path and strategy for success.
I spent many years as a consultant, project and programme manager in software development, where I learnt the importance of planning, setting goals and acknowledging milestones, as well as knowing how to relate these to the bigger objective. This not only helps me to run my business, but also ensures I hold my clients accountable throughout their coaching journey. We work together so that milestones are celebrated and goals are reached.
Having also worked as a counsellor in an NGO I have a deep understanding of the challenges faced by many people and I know the importance of confidentiality and client safety. I approach coaching with empathy and care, and I respect each client as an individual with their own experiences, struggles and values. I never give advice or tell people how to behave, but I do raise questions and provide support on any issue or toward any goal.
More about Me
I am British and Australian and have worked across four continents, lived in three and volunteered in another. This, along with an inter-racial marriage and personal health issues means I understand change, I understand challenge and I know the importance of good communication and respect for different cultures.
Life has not been what I expected, so instead I have learnt to adapt and grow. This does not mean that I have it all worked out or that my life has been easy, but it does mean that I understand life can be hard and making decisions can be really difficult.
I work with individuals to be confident and reach their goals.
I work with leaders to optimise their potential.
I work with teams to bring connection and engagement in their work.
